Employees can now stay 9 months to help recoup cost of flights
TARAWA (Radio Kiribati, Nov. 17, 2015) The Australian High Commission here in Kiribati says it will work closely with the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources Development to maximize the number of I-Kiribati people recruited to work in Australia’s seasonal workers program.
Australian High Commissioner to Kiribati George Fraser told Radio Kiribati News there is now no maximum number of people required to work in Australia from Kiribati and other Pacific Island nations.

Immigration works with Lae businesses to find employment

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea (PNG Post-Courier, Dec. 3, 2015) – Asylum seekers and refugees may be granted employment in Lae based on the outcome of discussions between the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Services Authority (ICSA) and various firms next Monday.
The meeting comes after the approval of the National Refugee Policy and an agreement of a regional resettlement Agreement by the National Government.

Small Grants Guide designed to help community groups and other organizations in the Pacific create successful climate change adaptation grant proposals. The free guide, which is based on many years of hands-on experience, is available online at: EastWestCenter.org/small-grants-guide.
The guide includes practical guidance for developing climate adaption projects. Funding for such projects typically carries specific technical criteria and requirements that can be particularly challenging for community-based organizations. The 60-page booklet features information tailored to the Pacific context, but it applies to other locations also.
