해외주식에 투자하는 국내 투자자(서학개미)들의 해외 주식 거래 열풍이 올해 상반기에도 계속됐다. 서학개미들은 올해 상반기에만 300조원에 달하는 해외주식을 거래해 반기 기준으로 역대 최대 수준을 기록했다.
외화주식 결제금액 상위 종목에 반(反) 공매도 전쟁으로 관심이 집중된 게임스톱, AMC 등이 상위권을 차지해 눈길을 끈다.
19일 예탁결제원에 따르면 국내 투자자의 올해 상반기 외화증권 결제금액은 직전반기(1809억4000만 달러) 대비 44.3% 증가한 2612억 달러(약 300조원)에 달했다. 이는 지난해 연간 결제금액(3233억9000만 달러)의 80.8%에 육박한다.
