+ PRIMEWATER Infrastructure Corporation will construct six new water wells to augment the water supply in Bacolod City.
Lily Donasco, general manager of PrimeWater, revealed that the water wells will be located in Barangay Mansilingan, which is a priority, Barangays Estefania, Villamonte, and Bata with one each and two in Barangay Taculing.
The company, which is now in a joint venture with Bacolod City Water District, targets to complete the project in 2022 and make the water wells operational, Donasco said.
She said they are now conducting geo-study to make sure that they get enough water supply.
The six wells are expected to give six to 10 million liters of water a day in Bacolod City especially on areas where they are located as they were identified to be needing an augmentation supply of water-based on assessment, Donasco said.

+ January 15, 2021 The Bacolod City Council has approved a resolution requesting President Rodrigo Duterte through the Department of Justice (DOJ) to look into the matter and review the validity of the joint venture agreement between the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) and Prime Water Infrastructure Inc.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., was approved during the regular session of the City Council Wednesday afternoon.
Gamboa said Baciwa is considered to be a government owned and controlled corporation, the same is imbued with public interest and its creation or charter emanated from Presidential Decree 198.
He said Section 18 of Presidential Decree 198 provides that the function of the board is to establish policy and the Board shall not engage in the derailed management of the water district.

Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) Employees Union President Leny Espina was among those who found themselves jobless, after the BACIWA Board of Directors declared their positions redundant on Dec. 31.
