Hope for daughter with rare disease, mother stays positive for daughter in hospice care
âEvery day I am grateful for one little day with my daughter. It means a lot. My life now is day by day. It is not what I will do in two months or six months. I donât care what is going to happen. It is just day by day, minute by minute. I just want to be with her.â
One Bakersfield family is currently going through the unimaginable. Their 6-year-old daughter is now in hospice care due to a rare disease called Alstrom Syndrome, which causes a wide variety of health issues.

KERN COUNTY, Calif. â The distance learning struggles continued at schools within the Kern High School District, with a 14% increase of students who received failing grades in the fall of 2020, and now the Kern High School District s board president is reacting to the news.
Jeff Flores, KHSD board member president, said he wasn t happy about the increase of failing students and that this wasn t a big surprise when considering all struggles, we ve seen students experience during the pandemic. However, he says there may be some reprieve for those students.
