BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â The Bakersfield Police Department said a child is in the hospital in serious but stable condition after he accessed a gun and shot himself.
BPD responded to the 5000 block of Marsha Street Wednesday evening for reports of a shooting. When they arrived they found the 3-year-old suffering from major injuries and took him to the hospital.
Police said the child s parents remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the communityâs assistance in locating a missing elderly subject.
Linda Anderson was last seen on April 20 in the area of the 2200 block of White Lane.
Anderson is considered at risk due to medical issues.
She is described as a Black female, 70 years old, 5â1â, 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, wearing a blue and white shirt, black pants, and black sandals.
Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â The Bakersfield Police Department is asking for the community s help in locating a missing at-risk teen.
According to the BPD, 13-year-old Mia Martinez was last seen on April 20th in the 1200 block of Townsley Avenue. She is considered at-risk because of her age and she has no history of running away.
Martinez is described as a Hispanic female standing 4â9â and about 125 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue sweatpants.
Bakersfield man booked on torture and attempted murder charges

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â A Bakersfield man was arrested and booked into jail on charges of torture and attempted murder after he called 911 Saturday night.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, 25-year-old Daniel Patrick Wilson was booked on felony torture, attempted murder, and false imprisonment among other felony and misdemeanor charges.
BPD said on Saturday, officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. to a home in the 2600 block of Bishop Drive after Wilson called 911. When they arrived they found a man who appeared to be assaulted and bound with a rope. Officers said while at the scene they were overcome with a strong chemical odor.
