Both houses of Congress target to ratify the bicam report this afternoon. @gmanews Members of the bicameral conference committee on Wednesday morning reconvened at a hotel in Makati to discuss the proposed P4.5-trillion national budget for 2021 and approved the bicam report at 10:14 a.m. Both chambers are expected to ratify it during their respective plenary sessions later in the afternoon. The country’s first transgender lawmaker made the call during the House Committee on Women and Gender Equality’s recent virtual forum on “State of Local Response Mechanisms for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Women (VAW)” in observance of the 2020 18-Day Campaign to End VAW from Nov. 25 to Dec. 12.

The enrolled copy of the proposed “Doktor para sa Bayan Act” is awaiting the signature of President Duterte, according to House Higher and Technical Education panel Chair Baguio City lone District Rep. Mark Go.
The House leader said the enrolled copy of the measure seeking to grant full medical scholarships to qualified and deserving Filipino students has been transmitted to the Palace for Duterte’s signature.

“Soon to become a law is the much-awaited Medical Scholarship and Return Service bill, known as Doktor para sa Bayan, which was already received by the Office of the President last Nov. 25, 2020,” Go said during his panel’s virtual meeting.

The chairperson of the House Committee on Rules hailed the House members led by House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco “for working very hard” in ensuring the immediate ratification of the 2021 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) which is expected to strengthen the Duterte government’s pandemic response.
“We acted with dispatch according to the desire of the President to help the economy weather the ill-effects of pandemic. I thank Speaker Lord Allan Velasco and my colleagues for performing under pressure just to ensure the immediate ratification of next year’s national budget,” Romualdez said.
