PHOENIX Arizona could be on the verge of reversing a decade-old law that was part of anti-immigrant efforts.
A measure headed to Gov. Doug Ducey would once again allow state and local government agencies to accept consular ID cards as a valid form of identification. These are issued by foreign governments to provide a method of their citizens to identify themselves while in a foreign country.
There is a caveat: Only those cards that include biometric identity verification techniques, including a fingerprint and retinal scan, will be considered valid. But the cards currently being issued by Mexico as well as Guatemala do comply.

At the time, he shrugged off legal protections enshrined in federal law, arguing that Roe v. Wade is only an “opinion” and the U.S. Supreme Court should “honor (Arizona’s) sovereignty.”
House Bill 2650 reflects that view, saying county attorneys must pursue criminal prosecutions “regardless of any contrary or conflicting federal laws, regulations, treaties, court decisions or executive orders.”

Good afternoon.
This past year weâve all gotten used to doing business a little differently, and so it is today. We would have preferred our usual State of the State proceedings, but like so many other recent plans, it wasnât in the cards.
