A 26-year-old Paterson man was stabbed dead during a group brawl before dawn Sunday, authorities said.
Police conducted CPR after finding Luis Ramirez stabbed, unconscious and bleeding on the ground next to a parked vehicle in front of a three-story brick walkup on Park Avenue off East 22nd Street shortly before 12:30 a.m., responders said.
Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene soon after, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said in a noontime release.
They didn’t say whether any suspects had been identified or arrested.
Valdes and Baycora did ask that anyone who might have witnessed the incident or has information that could help identify whomever was responsible contact the prosecutor’s tips line at

A man was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning near Park Avenue in Paterson, authorities said.
Police responded to the area of 315 Park Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a group fighting and a victim who was stabbed, according to a statement from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers found 26-year-old Luis Ramirez lying on the ground near a parked vehicle, unresponsive, with stab wounds, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police did not indicate in the statement whether there were any suspects at this time.

A man who was shot Tuesday evening in Paterson died from his injuries Wednesday, authorities said.
Bryan Vargas, 19, of Paterson was pronounced dead at 4:46 p.m. at Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson where he had been listed in critical condition the day before, according to a statement from the Paterson Police Department and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Vargas was shot just before 5:30 p.m. while outside a home at 89 Jefferson Street in a residential area of the city, police said.
