WW2 aircraft goes down in ocean during Florida airshow
A plane from the World War II-era crash-landed in the ocean during an airshow on a Florida beach.
The plane was taking part in the Cocoa Beach Air Show and made the emergency landing close to Patrick Space Force Base southeast of Orlando on Saturday afternoon on the state s eastern coast.
Officials said there were no injuries during the incident. Multiple videos posted to social media show the plane, a single-engine TBM Avenger, make a “soft” landing in the shallow water.

A nonprofit museum in Titusville is raising funds to restore a World War II bomber plane after engine failure forced its pilot to make an emergency landing on Saturday during the Cocoa Beach Air Show.
“Most of you know that our TBM Avenger was forced to land due to engine failure. The good news is that the pilot is fine. The not-so-good news is that it may take several years to rebuild the Avenger,” Valiant Air Command said in a statement posted to Facebook on Sunday.
The aircraft remained partially embedded in the sandy shoreline Sunday. The group is asking for donations to go toward repairing the saltwater-logged aircraft or have it become a display item at the Warbird Air Museum in Titusville.
Sunday morning, officials from Valiant Air Command, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Patrick Space Force Base, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and a towing company discussed plans to remove the aircraft safely.

(CNN) A World War II-era plane was forced to land off the coast of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Saturday afternoon after it experienced engine failure.
Authorities are now working on getting the plane, which was part of an air show, out of the water, according to Cocoa Beach Air Show spokesperson Chris Dirato.
The only person on board the plane, the TBM Avenger, was the pilot. When he realized the plane was having engine problems, he initially tried to make it to the nearby Patrick Space Force Base where the air show was being held, according to Dirato.
