The nation’s unemployment rate fell to 5.8% in May, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday, as the foodservices and drinking sector added 186,000 jobs — a third of the 559,000 positions gained in the month.
Eating and drinking establishment employment is in the bureau’s larger leisure and hospitality category, which added 292,000 jobs in the month “as pandemic-related restrictions continued to ease in some parts of the country,” the agency noted.

Wayback Burgers is coming to Darien.
The Connecticut-based restaurant chain recently announced that a lease had been signed for a future franchise location in the Darien Towne Center at 2445 75th St. It is expected to open by October.
"We're in the process of getting the plans and the permits," Wayback Burgers President Patrick Conlin said. "It is a former restaurant space, so hopefully the construction time is quicker and we can open in time to use that patio before the cold weather."

“We are very excited to add another location in Tennessee,” said Conlin. “Anthony is a great fit for our brand, and he cannot wait to start serving the community of Memphis. We are so grateful for the continued growth, especially during this unprecedented time.”
A feel good favorite.
Wayback Burgers’ mission is to “create a culture of belonging by uniting people through the love of comfort food.” With Franklin’s enthusiasm and the brand’s support, there is no doubt the new Memphis location will do just that.

A hearing for a former Eastern Michigan University student charged with sexually assaulting multiple women was adjourned Monday amid ongoing discussions between his attorney and an assistant prosecutor.
Dustyn Michael Durbin, 24, faces 13 criminal sexual assault charges, 10 of them felonies, court records show. An assistant prosecutor and Durbin's defense attorney, David Goldstein, both told Judge Carol Kuhnke there are ongoing discussions regarding his case.
"We have made an offer," assistant prosecutor Christina Hines told Kuhnke.
Nothing was placed on the court record Monday but the remarks implied some form of a plea agreement could be in the works. Goldstein told Kuhnke he needed more time for discussions with his client and on Goldstein's request, Kuhnke adjourned Durbin's next hearing until May 24 before Judge Patrick Conlin.
