Midland Mayor Patrick Payton to Talk Importance of the Oil & Gas Industry to Leaders in Washington
Midland Mayor Patrick Payton is ready to discuss the importance of the oil & gas industry to the nation and the world to leaders in Washington, D.C.
According to NewsWest 9, the mayor says most in Washington do not realize the importance of oil & gas around the world and also in our nation.
“We have been calling different mayors from all over the country and working with Senator Cruz, Congressman Cornyn, August Pfluger and the Petroleum Strategic Partnership to build a coalition of mayors who can then go to Washington D.C. with us and advocate for what it means to really be a nation of energy,” Payton said. “Not just oil and gas, but hydro, nuclear, whatever it might be because we really are the nation and world’s leader in energy. So we want to talk about that with a wise voice, not a radical voice.”
City of Midland Plans to Modernize Airpark if Moved
Midland mayor Patrick Payton sent a letter to the FAA to get approval for the Midland Airpark to move to Midland International Air & Space Port along with his plans to make the airpark more modern if the move is approved.
According to the Midland Reporter-Telegram, mayor Payton sent the letter on March 1, 2021 asking guidance on moving the airpark stating that the hangars at the existing facility are well over 30 years old and if the move is approved that hangars and other facilities that would be built would be updated and more modern.

One of the main topics discussed was the county sales tax impact in Odessa and how it will effect cities planning to annex areas in the future. That is a very big concern because that s not something that s just local, Joven said. That s something that s going to effect every city, every county across the state, and so if there is anything that stands out its how were going to work that out, and we have to work that out.

MIDLAND, Texas Midland City Council members are contemplating moving the Midland Airpark to the Midland International Air and Space Port.

Although, no official decisions have been made.
Right now, council members are gathering information on what it would take to move the airpark.

MIDLAND, Texas U.S. Representative August Pfluger s office was alerted that more migrant kids would be coming to Midland. However, there is a twist this time. The kids will be boys and girls and between the ages of 5 and 12.
Local officials are not happy about the situation. Midland Mayor Patrick Payton said that Midland has been disrespected again with the news coming seemingly out of nowhere.
