TRENTON New Jersey 101.5 s reporting on the pandemic has been recognized by the Radio Television Digital News Association, which awarded the station its prestigious regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast.
The award specifically recognizes the New Jersey s First News broadcast on March 17, 2020, which aired a day after Gov. Phil Murphy made a slew of announcements regarding business and school closures.
On that day, just three deaths in the state had been reported due to COVID-19 but March 16 marked the last day of normalcy for all in New Jersey.
The award-winning newscast features live reporting from Patrick Lavery and recorded contributions from David Matthau, Jen Ursillo, Dino Flammia and Statehouse Bureau Chief Michael Symons. A father and his son were arrested, processed and then released on summonses after the Brick Police Street Crimes Unit watched as a hand-to-hand drug deal took place between two vehicles outside the Walmart on Route 88, the department announced on Thursday.

Detectives pulled over one of the vehicles involved in the drug deal over traffic violations, while the other vehicle couldn t be found.
When detectives approached the vehicle and searched it, they found heroin, cocaine, used syringes and other drug paraphernalia.
Scott Butler, 58, Brick was arrested for possession of cocaine drug paraphernalia and was also issued traffic summonses.

Executive director Brooke Salvanto said the most important thing at the Seaport these days is that visitors are able to enjoy everything the destination has to offer at their own individual comfort level.
So the staff has been busy putting in new outdoor signage that makes a selfie-guided tour and scavenger hunt easier than ever. Patrons can stay outside for their entire visit if they wish, Salvanto said.
