By Joel Malkin The first of three sales tax holidays this year is underway. Florida’s Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday runs through Sunday, June 6th. It s aimed at getting residents prepared for hurricane season. Among the items that are being sold tax-free.batteries for $50 or less, coolers and portable power banks for $60 or less, tarps for up to $100 and generators priced up to $1,000. A new sales tax holiday gets underway during the first week of July called Freedom Week, with items like movie, museum tickets, bicycles kayaks and surfboards sales-tax free. Also, Florida s Back to School sales tax holiday is back for ten days, starting on July 31st.
