Malawi: Country Ready to Respond to Looming Cyclone Chalane, Disasters - Dodma 31 December, 2020 - 19:20
[Nyasa Times] Department of Disaster Management Affairs (Dodma) on Wednesday announced measures to deal with the impending Tropical Cyclone Chalane which is already in the Country.[.]
The cyclones is likely to cause flooding in some parts of the country, according to Dodma.
Speaking to the press, James Chiusiwa- commissioner for the Dodma said currently the department has sent a search and rescue team to the Lower Shire in preparation for the cyclone.
Chiusiwa added that the department will be sending funds to councils -to be used in addressing some of the challenges which may occur as a result of the cyclone.
