Pro-Life Catholic Philosopher Josef Seifert Speaks Out On Coronavirus Vaccine

05/15/2021 at 4:57 PM Posted by Kevin Edward White OnePeterFive OnePeterFive May 10, 2021 0 Comments Editor’s Note: Dr. Joseph Seifert is one of the preeminent Catholic philosophers in the world, and a member of the original Pontifical Academy for Life (PAL), where he was appointed to a lifetime position by his friend, the late Pope John Paul II. After becoming one of the leading voices showing the destructive moral implications in Amoris Laetitia in 2016, Seifert found himself unceremoniously and unjustly removed from his position as the Dietrich von Hildebrand Chair at the International Academy of Philosophy in Granada. In late 2016, Pope Francis went on to gut, and later reconstitute the PAL. Seifert, despite his lifetime appointment, was not invited back. But new members included Nigel Biggar, an abortion supporter; Anne-Marie Pelletier, a defender of sacraments for “remarried” divorcees; Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia (as president of the new academy) – a man who wa

By Father Tullio Proserpio • Catholic News Service • Posted April 30, 2021 As the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic continues and impacts all aspects of our existence, one constant continues. While we applaud the considerable and universal efforts made by various organizations to deal with this dramatic situation, the structural limits inherent within science itself have clearly emerged. Science alone is unable to offer a fully adequate answer to all the questions that continue to emerge, and the pandemic has highlighted this inadequacy in a sensational way. The Pontifical Academy for Life and its president, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, have stressed the need to guarantee and safeguard those aspects of health that are not immediately reflected in data and that, however, require full focus in this period: relationships, the psychological and spiritual dimensions of the person. These demand new attention.

Hans Küng, dissident theologian, dead at 93 | News Headlines

April 06, 2021 Hans Küng, the theologian whose work drew a censure from the Vatican, died on April 6 at his home in Tubingen, Germany, at the age of 93. Born in Switzerland, Küng was trained as a theologian, studying at the Gregorian University in Rome, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1954. He served as a peritus, or theological expert, at the Second Vatican Council, and later emerged as a persistent critic of Church teachings on a variety of topics, including contraception, abortion, ecumenical affairs, and papal infallibility. In 1979, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) issued a finding that Küng “can no longer be considered a Catholic theologian nor function as such in a teaching role.”
