In the summer of 2020, several councilmembers led an effort to defund the streetcar extension to the Benning Road Metro Station in Ward 7. In doing so, they made several statements on the record about the project and Ward 7. Many of them centering around who would benefit from a streetcar extension, and how. The Lagos State chapter of All Progressives Congress-APC celebrates the state governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu on the occasion of the second year anniversary of his administration.
The Lagos State government has turned in an impressive mid-term reports in spite of the unusual mammoth challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic recession and the EndSars protest.
However, the unexpected setback and distractions have not derailed the Sanwo-olu administration from the fulfillment of its electoral promises.
The early sign that Lagosians were in for a blissful four year term was the well articulated THEMES agenda which remain the main thrust of the social contract between the people and the government.
New Senior Living Community Proposed Next to Southern Village
At the beginning of May, the Town of Chapel Hill’s Economic Sustainability Committee heard a presentation for a potential luxury housing development for residents 55 and older. The proposed South Creek development would replace the previously-approved Obey Creek Project.
While the project is still in early planning stages, it aims to build middle-income housing like duplexes, townhomes and condos for people 55 and older. The 35-acre housing development would be a less dense alternative to the former Obey Creek Project.

Thanks to the passage of Issue 7 last year, Metro has the funding needed via a countywide sales tax to expand and improve public transit, boost economic development and invest in roadway infrastructure.
Reinventing Metro – our blueprint for the future – will become reality as we roll out Phase I on May 30. This marks the culmination of several years of extensive planning, which included input from Hamilton County residents, transportation experts, regional leaders and organizations.
As we embark on this next phase, I’m thankful for those who have supported Metro – whether they expressed it by voting for Issue 7 or by giving us feedback as riders and engaged community members.

But Commissioners Woody White and Pat Kusek decided not to run again. Instead, two new Republicans came in: Deb Hays and Bill Rivenbark. Neither had a grudge against Wave, and things started to change behind the scenes.
At a joint meeting of the city council and the county commissioners in April, Chair Julia Olson-Boseman announced a surprising change of heart.
“Funding commitments by the county and the city are not enough to fund the type of system we need and want, she said at the April 27 meeting. So while Wave develops the best system for our community, the county and city must work together to determine a dedicated funding source to ensure the new system is achievable and viable, well into the future.”
