A 33-year-old man was taken into custody early Tuesday, police said, after he stole a Dallas Fire-Rescue ambulance from Baylor University Medical Center in Old East Dallas. Thomas Hennington faces a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, Dallas police said. Officers got the call about the stolen ambulance around 1:30 a.m. Hennington took the vehicle from the ambulance bay while medics were inside the hospital dropping off a patient, said Jason Evans, a spokesman for Dallas Fire-Rescue.
