Temple College president, city officials say college s near $125 million bond is highly needed

TEMPLE, TX â Located right off of Loop 363 in Temple sits Temple College, home to nearly 5,000 students, otherwise known as Temple College Leopards.
âItâs a great corridor for community members to know that this, this is their community college,â said Dr. Christy Ponce, the collegeâs president. âWe re here for them and to train them for the future.â
While sheâs proud of the campus, Dr. Ponce explained how many parts of it are outdated. Multiple classrooms are overflowing with students, especially for those interested in the nursing program.

TEMPLE, TX â Temple Police are investigating after a shooting left a 19-year-old dead.
Officers responded to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center for a call about a shooting victim around 12:56 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2.
Officers were told the victim was shot in his vehicle near the intersection of S. MLK Jr. Drive and S. 24th St. and the shot was reportedly fired from another vehicle.
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries. On Wednesday, March 3, Temple PD announced he had succumbed to his injuries.
Police identified the victim as 19-year-old Cobe Hilliard. Next of kin have been notified.

TEMPLE, TX â Temple Police announced the victim, 19-year-old Claire Hernandez, succumbed to her injuries and next of kin have been notified.
The offender, 18-year-old Chris DeLeon, was still on the scene and after an initial investigation, was placed under arrest and transported to Bell County Jail.
Charges are currently pending.
Temple Police responded to a shooting Wednesday morning in the 1800 block of E. French Ave.
Officers responded to the call around 12:19 a.m. when they located a single female victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
