Sirens Blared & Reports of Tornado On I-35 E Near Forreston
UPDATE: The National Weather Service determined that an EF-2 tornado with winds up to 120 MPH occurred between Forreston and Waxahachie last night from 8:44 pm to 8:57 pm. It tracked 5.2 miles through the area between Waxahachie and Forreston where it crossed I-35E.
ELLIS COUNTY – As severe thunderstorm and tornado watches and warnings moved through Ellis County Monday evening, officials said it was likely a tornado that passed over I-35 in Waxahachie and caused motorist injuries.
Ellis County Public Information Officer Corey Rogan said around 11:45 p.m. Monday night “A multi-vehicle incident has occurred on I-35E near Forreston.” On the scanner calls for additional resources went out to respond to multiple overturned 18 wheelers with entrapment.
Detectives with the Killeen Police Department are investigating a drive-by shooting that took place Sunday evening.
Sunday, at approximately 9:41 p.m., KPD officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Frigate Drive where they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police.
KPD spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said the man was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple in stable condition.
âOfficers were told that the victim was traveling on Elms Road when an unknown dark in color SUV discharged a firearm towards the victimâs vehicle, when he was struck,â Miramontez said Monday.
The investigation is ongoing as of Monday afternoon, she said.

Last Night’s Shooting In Flower Mound Under Investigation
Flower Mound Police responded to call at 10:09 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, in reference to a shooting in the 200 block of Harbor Hills Drive. Upon arrival, officers found one victim, a 24-year-old male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Three other family members were in the residence at the time but were not injured.
The victim was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Grapevine by the Flower Mound Fire Department. He is in stable condition.
An investigation is underway to identify a suspect. The only description provided by the victim was that the suspect was a Black male. Detectives do not consider this a random act and are still working to gain more information about the suspect and motive. Police do not believe the suspect is still in the area.
Global investor grabs Deep Ellum apartment community

A Deep Ellum rental community has been snapped up by an international investor.
The Crosby apartments were built starting in 2018 on Hall Street just east of the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.
The five-story, 336-unit project was built by Dallas-based Stillwater Capital.
The apartment community includes a 3,000-square-foot shared office space, a rooftop deck and lounge, a fitness center and a dog park. HLR Architects designed the project with rental units ranting from 535 to 1,176 square feet.
Baylor College of Medicineâs Temple campus will open its doors in July 2023 with an inaugural class of 40 medical students, according to Dr. Paul Klotman, president of the Houston-based medical school.
âWeâre actively planning and building a foundation for the Temple campus,â he said. âThis will give us the opportunity to train more doctors to help solve the stateâs doctor shortage.â
Texas has a shortage of nearly 5,000 primary-care doctors and has the nationâs 47th-worst ratio of doctors per person, he said.
Baylorâs new campus will replace Texas A&M in Temple. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center â Temple was one of six clinical rotation sites for the Texas A&M medical school. Aggie med students receive first- and second-year classroom instruction in College Station before spending their third and fourth years in hospital settings.
