Nation set to celebrate Bangabandhu’s 101st birth anniversary

DHAKA, Mar 17, 2021 (BSS) – The nation is set to celebrate the 101st birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2021 in a befitting manner today.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation, the architect of independent Bangladesh and the greatest Bengale of all times, was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of the then Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
He was the third among six offspring two sons and four daughters of his parents- Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and Sheikh Sayera Khatun.
National Moon Sighting Committee meets tomorrow

DHAKA, Mar 13, 2021 (BSS) – The National Moon Sighting Committee will hold a meeting tomorrow to fix the date of holy Shab-e-Barat of Hijri 1442 after reviewing reports on the appearance of the moon of Shaban month.
The meeting will be held at Islamic Foundation conference room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 6.00 pm.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haque Khan will preside over the meeting, an official release said here today.
People are requested to inform the committee about moon sighting over the following telephone numbers – 9559493, 9555947, 9556407 and 9558337 – or through fax numbers – 9563397 and 9555951.
