DUI alleged JERSEY SHORE State police at Lamar responded to a one-vehicle crash on Pine Mountain Road on March 23. According to police, Timothy Yost, 49, of Mill Hall, was driving his 2015 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway and crashed into an embankment. Police say that indicators of impairment were present and Yost was placed under suspicion of DUI. Charges were filed through District Court 25-3-01. The crash took place around 4:40 p.m. High speed chase BELLEFONTE A high-speed chase resulted in the arrest of a Florida man on April 20. According to police, a traffic stop was conducted along Interstate 99 in Benner Township, Centre County. The driver, Daniel Jones, 51, of Fort Myers, Fla., appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. When police told Jones to exit the vehicle for field sobriety testing, he fled the scene. A pursuit continued for nearly 20 miles.

Drug possession BELLEFONTE At 11:49 p.m. on April 10, a traffic stop was conducted by state police at Rockview on South Eagle Valley Road/Sams Drive in Boggs Township. According to police, the operator of a 2004 Cheverlet Silverado, a male, 24, of Pottersdale, was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. DUI alleged BELLEFONTE At 5:20 a.m. on March 28, a traffic stop was conducted by state police at Rockview on I-80 East in Boggs Township. According to police, while conducting the traffic stop of a Nissan Versa, the operator, a male, 41, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., was found to be under the influence of a drug. Investigation is ongoing.

Accidental death LOCK HAVEN A 57-year-old Lock Haven man sustained fatal injuries after falling down the embankment on the levee trail in Castanea Township, state police at Lamar said. Robert W. Benfield Sr. succumbed to head injuries at the scene on April 8 at 4:54 p.m., police said. The death was ruled accidental. Harassment LOCK HAVEN Melody McCoy Witherite, 42, of Mill Hall, was sent a summons after being charge with harassment by Woodward Township Police. Witherite allegedly sent another person 47 unwanted text messages, many of which contained lewd an obscene language, over a five-day period from April 7 to 9, police said. The summons was filed at District Judge Keith Kibler’s office.
