The Transition House shelter has one positive case of COVID-19 confirmed in a staff member.
Based on Ministry guidelines, this single positive case has prompted the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit to declare an outbreak at the shelter.
Part of the outbreak management measures, includes pausing all new admissions to Transition House during the outbreak period, as they support the current ten clients to isolate in place.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit will be hosting two public meetings for the local community to get to know the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Natalie Bocking.
“Talk With the Doc” session are a chance for the community to receive COVID-19 updates, learn more about vaccine rollout, and submit questions to Dr. Bocking.

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting 20 COVID-19 recoveries today.
However, there have been two new cases added to the list.
The region now has a total of 68 active cases.
Health officials say that 17 people with COVID-19 are being treated in hospital, with nine in ICU and four on a ventilator.
A total of 60,900 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health is reporting 19 new cases of the virus today, for a total of 96 active cases.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit says there are three new COVID-19 cases in Northumberland, for a total of 34 in that county.

In other news from Queen’s Park, the government says that in the first two weeks of May, they will be reallocated half of the province’s supply to hotspots. Distribution based on population will go back into practice the week of May 17th. Starting tomorrow, all Ontario residents who are 55 and older, will be able to book a COVID-19 appointment on the province’s portal or through the vaccine hotline. Individual with high-risk health conditions will be able to access a shot at a mass vaccination centre on Monday.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting that more people are in hospital with COVID-19.
Staff say there are now 20 patients being treated, with 7 in hospital, and four on a ventilator.
Across the region, a total of 13 new COVID-19 cases were reported today. There are now a total of 84 active cases.
Five of the new cases listed today are related to outbreaks, while four others are close contacts.

Belleville General Hospital, Quinte 5 Unit – 5 cases linked.
Workplace in Belleville (Declared April 23) – 6 cases linked.
Workplace in Prince Edward County (Declared April 19) – 6 cases linked.
