Get ready for a fight with N.Y, senators tell nominees to Gateway Tunnel board
Updated Dec 14, 2020;
Two nominees to a board to oversee the Gateway Tunnel project have yet to be appointed, but they were given marching orders to “fight for New Jersey” from legislators vetting them Monday.
Transportation Attorney Janine Bauer, former Tri-State Transportation Campaign executive director and Dr. Balpreet Grewal-Virk, Hackensack University Medical Center vice president of community outreach were nominated and approved by the state senate judiciary committee on Monday.
They were told to “get ready to throw some punches” to ensure New York pays its fair share for the tunnel that will bring more Jersey commuters to work and pay taxes in New York City and State.

“We’re not going to beat around the bush,” Burns told the savvy investors as he launched into a series of puns. “We’re a fairly hairy sector of the oil industry – the pubic oil industry, that is.”
