ON January 30th 2020, the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
Since that time, Covid-19 has had a significant effect on Ireland’s public health.

The cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide surpassed 100 million on Jan. 28, 2021, according to World Health Organization (WHO).
Globally, as of 6:31pm CET on Jan. 28, there have been 100,455,529 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2,166,440 deaths, reported to WHO.
The United States, the worst-hit country around the world, reported 25,198,841 confirmed cases and 421,570 deaths. India and Brazil followed with 10,701,193 and 8,933,356 confirmed cases, respectively.
Countries with more than 2 million confirmed cases include Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Germany, and Colombia. Countries reported more than 1 million confirmed cases include Argentina, Mexico, Poland, South Africa, Iran, Ukraine, Peru and Indonesia.

February 5, 2020: The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced the state’s first person with coronavirus. The person was from Dane County and had recently traveled to China. The person went straight from the airport to UW Hospital in Madison on January 30. The person was tested for coronavirus and sent home to isolate. City and county leaders said the risk of the general public contracting the virus remained low.
