MEMBERS of staff at two companies in west Wiltshire have tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus, forcing one business to start the Christmas holidays early. At egg co-operative Stonegate Farmers in Lacock, the company confirmed that seven of its 160-plus employees at its factory in Corsham Road have tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus and eight are having to self-isolate. In a statement, Public Health England South West and Wiltshire Council said: “We are aware of seven confirmed cases of Covid-19 in staff working at Stonegate Farmers in Lacock. All staff members are currently well. “Eight staff members have been identified as close contacts of the positive cases and have already been contacted and told to self-isolate.
THREE more schools in Dorset have reported coronavirus cases this week before the Christmas break, including one in Sturminster Newton. Sturminster Newton High School, which has more than 600 students, confirmed in a letter to parents and carers that a “member of our school community has tested positive for Covid-19”. The affected person and any close contacts must self-isolate until Christmas Eve. Jason Davis, headteacher at the Bath Road school, wrote that while the news would “naturally create concern”, he reassured parents and students that there are “rigorous measures to protect students”. He wrote: “We need to inform you that a member of our school community has tested positive for Covid-19.
FORMER Swindon GPs are reassuring people that it is safe to take the new Covid vaccine. The salad factory has continued to open at a reduced capacity to provide M&S with its fresh food.
