LOS ANGELES, March 11 (Xinhua) Los Angeles County will reopen its economy as early as next Monday, as the most populous county in the United States is expected to loosen restrictions against COVID-19, authorities said on Thursday.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said in a release that the county is anticipated to qualify for a less restrictive red tier that allows for additional re-openings between Monday and Wednesday next week.
Once the county moves into the red tier from the present purple tier, the most restrictive tier of the state s four-tier system, museums, zoos and aquariums can open indoors at 25 percent capacity, while gyms, fitness centers, yoga and dance studios can open indoors at 10 percent capacity, with masking requirements for all indoor activities.

COVID-19 protocols and regulations in the counties of the state of California were issued last March 09, 2021.
The L.A. county has moved into the “red” tier, which means almost most non-essential businesses can only open with limited capacity. Because of the restrictions and stay-at-home orders, many people work from home, which leads to fewer cars on the road, reducing wear on motor vehicles, lowering the need to repair and maintain them.
Based on the state’s information as of Tuesday, the county’s balanced case rate was 5.2 per 100,000 of the population, whereas its seven-day average test positivity rate stood at 2.5. Once all criteria get met, L.A. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said that at a briefing Monday, she anticipates reopening could be changed back within 48 hours of the announcement.
