Los Angeles County has reported 175 new cases of COVID-19 and five additional deaths, though officials said the relatively low numbers may reflect delays in weekend reporting.

There’s a promising sign in California’s efforts to get more Latino and Black residents vaccinated: They’re now getting shots at a relatively faster rate than other racial and ethnic groups.
The overall disparity in the percentage of Latino and Black Californians who are at least partially vaccinated is still troubling: Only about 35% of Latino and 36% of Black residents are at least partially vaccinated, while 52% of white, 49% of Native American/Alaska Native and 63% of Asian American/Pacific Islander residents are at least partially vaccinated, according to a Times analysis of state data.
But over the last month, the percentage of Latinos who were at least partially vaccinated climbed from 28% to 35% accounting for a relative percentage jump of 26%, the fastest among all racial and ethnic groups.
Have you gotten your COVID-19 vaccine?
Well various vaccination sites are giving out free Los Angeles Lakers and Hamilton Musical tickets this weekend in hopes encourage people to get their COVID-19 vaccine.
This weekend (May 22 and May 23) anyone aged 18 and older who gets their first vaccination at a Los Angeles County run vaccine site will be entered for a chance to win a pair of season tickets for the Lakers.
“Thanks to the generosity of the Lakers and their deep commitment to getting us all safely to the end of the pandemic, a lucky pair will be able to watch live at the Staples Centers all the home Lakers games for this upcoming season,” county Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said. “So this weekend make time to get your vaccine. Not only will you get a lot of added protection, but you may be that lucky person who gets to watch an amazing basketball team pursue another NBA championship.”
