Extensive surveillance of Covid-19 has discovered a small number of cases of the Covid-19 variant first discovered in South Africa, in localities across England, and the first cases have now been identified in the WR3 area of Worcestershire. Public Health England says these cases cannot be traced back to international travel. All cases are now self-isolating and robust contact tracing has taken place to trace their contacts and ask them to self-isolate.

Rapid Covid-19 tests available at Redditch Town Hall

RESIDENTS with no Covid-19 symptoms will be able to book a test at Redditch Town Hall. The lateral flow tests at the Town Hall will be available from tomorrow (Tuesday, February 2) for those aged 18 and over. Rapid turnaround tests are supplied by NHS Test and Trace and will help identify people who are positive for Covid-19. Around one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 are asymptomatic. Broadening testing to include those with no symptoms will mean finding positive cases more quickly, and help to break the chains of transmission. Here s how adults WITHOUT symptoms can get a free Covid test

The lateral flow tests THERE are now more places for people without symptoms to get a free, rapid Covid-19 test in Worcestershire. Lateral flow testing, in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, will be available to residents at Pershore Leisure Centre and Redditch Town Hall, to help drive down transmission rates. It is believed around one in three people with Covid-19 will have no symptoms. Testing will be available for people with no symptoms aged 18 and over, at Pershore Leisure Centre from Saturday, January 30 and at Redditch Town Hall from Tuesday, February 2. Free rapid tests for people without Covid symptoms in Worcestershire

Select pharmacies across Worcestershire will be offering free rapid Covid-19 test as of this week. Photo from PA PEOPLE in Redditch can now get a free rapid Covid-19 test from some pharmacies across Worcestershire. This testing is for adults and children who are 12 years and over who live or work in Worcestershire and who do not have any symptoms of Covid-19. The tests are taken using nose and throat swabs and the results are much faster than the standard test which goes to a lab. There are no costs but anyone getting a test will need to follow social distancing and wear a face covering.
