The county has no available vaccines to distribute and is not taking appointment reservations.
“We simply don’t get the supply to meet the demand,” said Carla Hass, county communications director, on Tuesday during a supervisors meeting. “The vaccine supply just isn’t there.”
Hass said that she understands residents are frustrated, but that will most likely continue until supply meets demand.
El Dorado County receives .35% of the state’s vaccine allotment and the county makes up about .4% of the state’s population. Hass says these numbers are up to par in comparison with the county and state populations. These numbers point to country-wide lack in supply of the vaccine.

In addition, the Illinois Department of Public Health will offer free test clinics on the WIU Macomb campus Jan. 23, 24 and 25. Visit wiu.edu/ coronavirus for updates and information.
For those on the Macomb campus, an appointment must be made by going to beuonline.wiu.edu. Individuals should arrive at the meter parking lot at the north east corner of the University Union on the time and date selected. Results of the nasal swab are provided the same day. For individuals on the Quad Cities campus, the saliva test can be picked up and dropped off in River front Hall on the designated times and dates.

The Pike County General Health District released its latest COVID-19 update on its Facebook page on Monday. According to the latest count, there have been 15 new cases reported and
