Director of Public Health Lucy Wightman said the school s quick response has helped identify close contacts and reduce the risk of transmission.
Mrs Wightman said: “The school has been hugely supportive, both in quick actions at the start of the outbreak and in enabling us to facilitate whole school community testing.
“This operation is now under way with trained staff providing support to the school community.
“I’d like to thank the school community for their support so far. From what we have seen today in the response to the first parts of the testing we are sure that the remaining residents of Towcester will be as supportive, should the need for surge testing arise.

Ahead of the next stage of lockdown easing, Public Health Northamptonshire is urging residents to engage in regular testing.
As indoor hospitality reopens on Monday (May 17), as well as indoor attractions such as cinemas and soft play centres, the county s health authority held a press briefing today (May 14) ahead of Boris Johnson s conference at 5pm.
Data published for the week up to May 9, shows a 30 percent increase in cases across Northamptonshire with 254 people testing positive. There has also been an outbreak of the Indian variant at a school in South Northamptonshire, which is not linked to international travel, but rather an individual travelling to a part of this country where the variant is more prominent.

Health chiefs will test staff and pupils at a Northamptonshire school after confirming cases of a highly-transmissable Indian strain of Covid-19.
However, they say widespread surge testing is not required following the discovery of six cases.
Similar cases are cropping up across the UK with mass testing in some affected areas.
But Public Health Northamptonshire insists further testing is only needed as a precautionary measure at one county school and the cases do not appear to be linked to international travel.
