State of Alaska’s Declaration of Public Health Disaster Emergency
As of February 14, 2021, the State of Alaska’s Declaration of Public Health Disaster Emergency (DD), which was in place to manage its response to COVID-19, expired. While certain authorities under the DD have expired, the Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is making every effort to minimize potential disruption to interactions between Alaskans and DHSS as we transition out of the DD.
Accordingly, until further instructed by the Governor or the Alaska Legislature:
DHSS will continue to operate its COVID-19 response under the same guidance and direction that had previously been provided, which includes all prior waived or suspended statutes and regulations.

A pandemic that began here in March, a massive storm that struck in August, and the politics that started in February with Caucus chaos were the top stories in Iowa this past year. Here’s a rundown of those stories:

Iowa’s first three cases of coronavirus were confirmed on March 8. Just three days later, the first infected patient was admitted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Then, on March 17, Governor Reynolds declared a Public Health Disaster Emergency, banning public gatherings of 10 or more people and closing an array of businesses.
Gov. Reynolds signs new proclamation opening more businesses throughout Iowa
DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation continuing the Public Health Disaster Emergency. The proclamation permits salons, barbershops, and massage and tattoo establishments to reopen throughout Iowa in a limited fashion with appropriate public health measures in place. It also permits restaurants (but not bars), fitness centers, libraries, and race tracks to reopen in the 22 counties where they have remained closed. These changes are effective at 5:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15.
The proclamation continues the other ongoing closures and public health measures, including the prohibition on social, community, recreational, leisure, and sporting gatherings and events of more than 10 people, until 11:59 p.m. on May 27, 2020.
