MADISON, Wis.– Dane County doctors say it appears some people believe there are three choices when it comes to COVID: get vaccinated and protect yourself, don’t get vaccinated and live your life, or don’t get vaccinated, but live cautiously enough to avoid the virus. With the extremely contagious delta variant now the dominant strain in Dane County, local doctors say that third option is not a reality.

MADISON (WKOW) Coronavirus vaccination numbers across Wisconsin are still lower than health officials want them to be, putting pressure on state and local leaders to seek out unvaccinated populations. Health officials and community groups are working as creatively as possible to get shots into arms.
Nearly 51 percent of people in Wisconsin have received their first COVID-19 vaccine doses, and around 48 percent have completed their doses. The first shot, I was super nervous, he said. But the second shot, I think I m more worried about what would happen if I didn t get it.

MADISON, Wis. Public Health Madison & Dane County staff say they’re noticing an increase in the number of people showing up to their vaccine clinics wanting to mix and match their doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. The organization posted on Facebook that this is neither recommended nor necessary.
Public Health’s COVID Vaccine Deputy Tess Ellens said it’s mostly people who got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and now want either Moderna or Pfizer.
“There’s concern over the Delta variant and they’re wanting some extra protection,” Ellens said.
Dr. Jim Conway at UW Health said he’s also hearing about more people doing this for a number of other reasons.

tickets ($10 general admission; $12 reserved seats) are required. The season kicks off July 8 (note, the concert has moved to Thursday due to the weather) with âSummon the Heroes: An Independence Day Celebration,â featuring guest soloist Antonio Wu, a pianist and 2020 winner of the WCO Young Artist Concerto Competition.
