Newburyport urges continued vigilance during COVID-19

Community Content Mayor Donna Holaday, Director of Public Health Frank Giacalone and the city of Newburyport are urging residents to remain vigilant against the spread of COVID-19 as the community maintains a “moderate” risk designation from the state. Holaday also issued a video update regarding the state of the pandemic, which can be viewed at https://bit.ly/3sHgpfe.  According to public health data released Jan. 14, the city s designation has remained “yellow,” indicating a “moderate risk” of spread in the community. The average daily incidence rate for the city of Newburyport is 52.3 per 100,000 residents, up from 43 last week. The report, which includes the latest data up until Jan. 12, states there have been 130 cases of COVID-19 in the community over the last 14 days. Newburyport officials report as of yesterday have been a total of 763 confirmed cases in the city since the start of the pandemic.
