Unions committed to standing their ground despite Government’s pleas for deferral Unions committed to standing their ground despite Government’s pleas for deferral Friday, 29 January 2021 00:00 Written by  The Grenada Informer (0 votes) The Public Workers Union (PWU) and the Grenada Union of Teachers (GUT) has given the assurance that they are committed to stand their ground with respect to demanding the agreed 4% increase this month end for the period 2021, despite Government’s plea for a deferral, citing inability to pay. Government claims, given the fiscal position in the country brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic they are not in a position to pay the 4% immediately and is therefore requesting a deferral until later in the year.
