CAPE TOWN - Parliament’s Powers and Privileges committee has found 16 Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Members of Parliament (MPs) guilty of contempt of Parliament.
The 16 red berets were charged after storming Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan at the podium when he was delivering his Budget vote in July 2019.
Scopa suspends meeting with Eskom, allegations against CEO De Ruyter to be probed

Cape Town â The standing committee on public accounts (Scopa) on Wednesday suspended its hearing into the annual report of Eskom to consider a process that will attend to allegations levelled against the utilityâs chief executive Andre de Ruyter.
The decision was taken by members of the committee after they received correspondence from Eskomâs chief procurement officer, Solly Tshitangano, on Tuesday.
The committee had expected Tshitangano, who is now suspended, to be part of the delegation to account for the deviations and expansion of contracts that led to irregular expenditure in the 2019/20 financial year.
Several EFF MPs have been found guilty of misconduct for disrupting a parliamentary sitting.
The parliamentarians were found guilty of misconduct after they stormed the podium while Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan was delivering a speech in 2019.
A sanction will be handed down once the MPs involved have made representations.

With the exception of the EFF, all members of Parliament s Powers and Privileges Committee agreed to a guilty finding against the members involved.
The EFF MPs involved will have an opportunity to make representations, before the committee decides on a sanction.

The country waited anxiously over the weekend until Monday, 1 March to know the contents of the report by the panel appointed by Modise and headed by former Constitutional Court judge Bess Nkabinde and advocates Dumisa Ntsebeza and Johan de Waal. It had been speculated whether the panel’s finding would be the beginning of the end for Mkhwebane, or solidify her as the “unfairly targeted” Public Protector.

Pretoria - After weeks of wrangling over the new date and accusations that the Zondo Commission was trying to prevent Brian Molefe from completing his Eskom testimony – to protect President Cyril Ramaphosa and Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan – the former Eskom chief executive has been rescheduled to testify today.
The commission is also scheduled to hold an evening session, to hear evidence from Terence Joubert and Colonel Welcome Sithembiso Mhlongo relating to allegations of corruption at the law enforcement agencies, at 4pm.
Molefe’s lawyer, Mpho Molefe, said on Sunday that the commission confirmed on Friday that his client would be allowed to complete his Eskom-related testimony before fielding questions on Transnet-related matters next week.
