NEW CANAAN Lives were put at risk by Eversource’s actions after Tropical Storm Isaias, First Selectman Kevin Moynihan told state regulators Monday.
The hearing was part of an investigation by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority into response by Eversource to the storm, criticized by municipal leaders as being slow and disorganized.
At the peak after the Aug. 4 storm, 90 percent of the 8,531 New Canaan homes and businesses served by Eversource were without power, and service was not fully restored for a week or more. Phone and internet were cut to people working at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
