The Ohio Consumers’ Counsel had issued a subpoena to the Akron-based company, with a Monday deadline, requesting records documenting: How the company’s charitable arm awarded money in 2018 and 2019 and An internal company investigation into possible improper spending, including a $4.3 million payment FirstEnergy made to a company tied to former Public Utilities Commission of Ohio Chair Sam Randazzo.
