If the Secretary to the President can repeal the Acts of Parliament, why a Parliament? -Karu
(Lanka-e-News -10.Dec.2020, 5.30PM) If the Secretary to the President can repeal important bills passed in Parliament, why maintain a Parliament? Such incidents have never been reported in the history of Parliament. This is an insult to Parliament. Therefore, Deshamanya Karu Jayasuriya, former Speaker and Chairman of the National Movement for a Just Society, urges all Members of Parliament to come forward to protect the dignity of Parliament, regardless of party affiliation. Colombo (News 1st); Samagi Jana Balavegaya Parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne speaking in Parliament alleged the government is taking measures to abolish key institutions in order to provide benefits to companies owned by their associates.
Wickramaratne said Mahinda Rajapaksa was defeated because the economic team surrounding him misled him.
