Three Jewish suspects were indicted on attempted murder and terror charges Monday for an attack on an Arab Israeli man whose savage beating by a mob in Bat Yam earlier this month was caught on live television.
Saeed Mousa was seriously injured in the May 12 attack, which came amid escalating ethnic tensions between Jews and Arabs inside Israeli cities alongside the armed conflict with Gaza terror groups.
Netanel Binyamin, 25, Lahav Ohanina, 18, and a 16-year-old minor whose name was not released were charged in Tel Aviv District Court with aggravated intentional assault, intentional sabotage of a vehicle and racially motivated theft, public disturbance causing racially motivated damage, incitement to terrorism and incitement to racism.

(May 19, 2021 / Israel Hayom) Israel Police Commissioner Yaakov Shabtai sparked an uproar on Tuesday night during a visit to the embattled city of Lod in central Israel when he called both Arab and Jewish rioters “terrorists.”
“We will bring anyone who disrupted the public order and engaged in vandalism to justice. It doesn’t matter right now if they were Jews or Arabs. We will bring all the terrorists to justice, from both sides. From my perspective, these are people who disrupted the peace and quiet for us all, and our job is to expel this crowd from society,” said Shabtai.

The riots in the mixed and Arab cities have increased the sense of insecurity among many in Israel, and as a result, their desire to arm themselves has also increased. Last week, 1,926 Jewish citizens applied for gun licenses – seven times more than the weekly average. This is a very worrisome figure, which shows first and foremost that the police have failed to give people security.
Their fear is understandable. The reports of events in Lod, Ramle, Acre, Jaffa and other cities and communities are disturbing, and it’s only natural for people to want to defend themselves. What’s more, the riots are happening at the same time in various places throughout the country and the police can’t be everywhere at the same time.
