In his recent article, Lam said the elections are a political event that is of great significance to the country and each locality.
Therefore, absolutely safeguarding security and safety for the elections, consolidating a safe and healthy environment, and creating optimal conditions for the organisation of the event have remained a key task of the public security force from late 2020 to the end of the elections, he said.

The Departments of Public Security in 63 provinces and cities had collected dossiers of making chip-based ID cards of 33.9 million Vietnamese citizens as of April 27, equal to 67.8 percent of the goal of 50 million cards to be issued before July 1.

The information was released at a meeting of the steering committee for the implementation of the projects to build a national database on population and a system for citizen ID production, issuance, and management on May 4.

In the morning, the
committee assessed a report on the Government’s performance during the 2016 –
2021 tenure. It also examined the Government’s proposals and projects on
establishment of some administrative units and administrative boundary adjustment
