Plan to futureproof operational communications for NSW emergency services

NSW Telco Authority Today the NSW Telco Authority launched a ten-year plan to transform public safety communications to provide first responders with the connectivity they need to protect people and places. NSW Telco Authority Managing Director Kylie De Courteney said the Operational Communications Strategy 2020 (OCS 2020) is a blueprint for delivering data-enabled services to improve on-the-ground coordination and decision-making during emergencies when every second counts. “In consultations to develop the strategy, customers told us they need both mission-critical voice and broadband data services to meet future coordination and connectivity challenges,” Ms De Courteney said. “Through the Government’s $600 million investment in the Critical Communications Enhancement Program, we are building a single, interoperable Public Safety Network (PSN) to deliver statewide, mission-critical standard voice and narrowband data services.”

Motorola grabs $100M Ambulance Victoria deal Motorola grabs $100M Ambulance Victoria deal Will provide Mobile Data Network (MDN) until 2025 Motorola Solutions has signed a $100 million deal with Ambulance Victoria to provide emergency data communications services.  The new agreement extends Motorola’s existing deal with the Victorian Government, with the company having deployed its Mobile Data Network (MDN) to the state in 2005.  The network provides secure communications for Ambulance Victoria, primarily across the greater Melbourne metropolitan region.  The new contract will now see the telecommunications equipment vendor supply MDN services until 2025 with options to extend for a further two years, extending its relationship with the state government to more than two decades.
