In Canada, the Governments of Canada and British Columbia are investing in RNG buses in Greater Victoria as part of a public transportation initiative through the Public Transportation Infrastructure Stream, part of the Investing in Canada Plan. A portion of the funding will be used to acquire around 15 medium-duty buses fueled with CNG or RNG to replace diesel-fueled buses at the end of their useful life, which BC Transit views as an important part of its low-carbon transportation strategy as it transitions to a greener fleet. The Government of Canada is investing more than $4.9 million, and the Government of British Columbia over $4.5 million in these two projects through the Public Transit Infrastructure Stream (PTIS) of the Investing in Canada plan. The recipients are contributing a combined total of over $1.9 million.
