The Accra Regional Police Command has gunned-down a suspected highway robber and arrested two others in an operation on the Spintex Road, in Accra.
Blessing Stephen, about 38 years, died from gunshot wounds he sustained in the capture operation at a guest house at Spintex, a suburb of Accra, on 27 January, 2021, at about 1130 hours.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command, told the Ghana News Agency that the deceased had been active in alleged criminal activities and evasive, and has been on police surveillance for some time now. She said suspect Jessy Osas, believed to be his accomplice and one Godwin Hetor, a receptionist at a guest house, where the deceased and his accomplice were lodging.
A total of 282 people, have been arrested by the Police, in two days for not wearing nose masks towards containing the spread of COVID-19.
The Accra Regional Police Command recorded 97, followed by Ministries, 66, Baatsona, 50, Teshie, 30, Madina, 23 and Tesano, 16.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Accra Regional Police Command, told the Ghana News Agency.
She explained that the exercise was in line with the implementation of the Executive Instrument passed by the President to ensure members of the public were protected from contracting COVID-19.
Apart from the arrest, she said, there were also sensitisation and general education of motor riders, drivers as well as their mates at various lorry stations.

The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, popularly called task force, has vowed to ensure the arrest of Okada riders engaging in criminal activities.
The Head of Public Affairs Unit, Lagos task force, Adebayo Taofiq, said, in an interview on Monday, that the task force would intensify efforts to ensure that Okada only operates on authorised routes.
He said this while reacting to the killing of a Systems Engineer and winner of 2018 IBM competition, David Nketim-Rex, in Lagos.
