The U.S. Mission to the Republic of Italy’s Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to announce funding through its Public Diplomacy Grants Program to strengthen cultural ties between the United States and Italy through cultural and exchange programming that highlight shared values and promote bilateral cooperation.
All programs must include a significant American cultural element, connection with American expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.

Gombe State Government has declared that it will not go ahead with the announcement of new Mai Tangale unless the protesters clear off the road and allow peace in the area.
The State Government through a press statement by the SSG, Professor Ibrahim Njodi Abubakar stated that “Until normalcy is restored in Tangale Chiefdom, it will be difficult for Government to make any pronouncement on the issue.”
The terse statement issued to journalists late Wednesday evening contained that, “Following the development taking place in parts of Billiri Local Government Area, the Gombe State Government wishes to categorically state that it has not pronounced a New Mai Tangle because the process has not been concluded.

Bayelsa State Command of the Nigerian Police has arrested a 26-year-old male, Promise Olive, for allegedly slapping his 17-year-old girlfriend, Esther Uko, to death over a minor quarrel.
Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters in Yenagoa, Commissioner for Police, Mr Mike Okoli, said that Esther slumped and died instantly after receiving two slaps from her boyfriend.
Although the police are yet to reveal what led to the quarrel, sources hinted Nigerian Tribune that the lovebirds had the quarrel over suspicion that Esther was having an affair with another man.
Also arrested and paraded is one Mr Ineong Maffat, who allegedly conspired with his gang members to rob one Mr Ngene Chinedu of his company’s Toyota Corolla car loaded with pharmaceutical drugs worth N650,000 along the Sani Abacha Expressway, Yenagoa.

Gunmen have killed a pregnant female lawyer identified as Nkiru Agbasu, along the Warri/Sapele Expressway in Delta State.
The female lawyer was returning to Warri from Sapele on Wednesday when the gunmen, suspected to be armed robbers, opened fire on the occupants of the car she was travelling but the bullet hit her alone.
Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Warri Branch, Emmanuel Uti, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said she was on her way from Sapele when the tragedy occurred.
“It was an armed robbery incident along the road and they shot at their car. She was the one the bullet hit.
