The Zonta Club of Sanibel-Captiva has selected Ekaterina “Katja” Pedersen-Diaz, a junior at Estero High School, to receive the 2021 Young Women in Public Affairs Award, along with the $1,500 check. Established by Zonta International to address the disparity in the representation of women in legislature, the award recognizes superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and emphasizes the importance of women having equal participation in decision-making processes.

Jan 11, 2021 ALPENA The Zonta Club of Alpena will be awarding seven scholarships totaling $5,250 for the 2021/2022 academic year to deserving area women, Diane O’Connor, chair of the scholarship committee, has announced. All scholarship applications are available on the Zonta Club of Alpena Facebook page or at zonta15.org under the Alpena link. The following scholarships are available: Young Women in Public Affairs Award offers a $750 scholarship and is awarded to an Alpena High School Senior in recognition of her leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations. Scholarship applications are available at the AHS Career Resource Center. The deadline is March 1, 2021.
