IDAHO FALLS A local woman has pleaded not guilty after prosecutors say her actions caused the death of a Bonneville County Sheriff deputy in 2020. Jenna Holm, 35, appeared from the Bonneville County Jail via Zoom for her arraignment in front of District Judge Dane H. Watkins Jr. During the Wednesday hearing, Holm entered the plea and a jury trial was scheduled for Aug. 30. Prosecutors have charged Holm with felony involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Additionally, there is a sentencing enhancement that would add 15 years to Holm’s sentence if convicted, meaning she could spend up to 30 years behind bars.

Murrieta, 31, is the man who was shot in the incident that remains under investigation, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Bryan Lovell says in a news release. Deputies say Murrieta and Donald T. Randall, 42, were in an argument around 11:30 p.m. that led up to the Feb. 16 shooting in the middle of the 3100 block of North Yellowstone Highway. Lovell says the night of the shooting, someone called 911 saying two men were fighting. Before the first deputy arrived, Randall is alleged to have shot Murrieta, leaving the man with a non-survivable injury. After being rushed to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Murrieta remained on life support until he died a few days later.

Sheriff’s office fills in details of shooting investigation MGN Online IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)-Taylor R. Murrieta, 31, of Idaho Falls has been pronounced dead after spending several days on life-support.   Murrieta was shot by Donald T. Randall, 42, of Bonneville County.   The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office said the two were involved in an altercation in the 3100 block of North Yellowstone Highway at around 11:30 p.m. February 16.  Randall told deputies Murrieta had been following him in a separate vehicle on North Yellowstone, trying to get him to pull over.  Both stopped in the road, got out of their vehicles, and into an altercation.  After returning to his vehicle, Randall called dispatch to report the incident and claimed Murrieta was attempting to pull him out of his vehicle.
