Summer helmet safety for riding motorcycles and ATVs
BONNEVILLE COUNTY, Idaho (KIFI) - The Bonneville County Sheriff s Office wants to remind you to be safe when enjoying the nice weather.
This is the time of year when motorcycle and ATV activity starts to increase, especially in the backcountry areas.
Before you ride, whether it’s on a roadway, trail or private property, the sheriff s office wants to remind you to take the time to plan for safety.
While there are exceptions when riding on private property or agricultural uses, Idaho law requires those under 18 must wear a DOT certified helmet, and deputies recommend wearing a helmet no matter what age or skill level the rider may be.

The event will allow community members to safely and securely dispose of any unused or expired prescriptions and help prevent drug misuse in Idaho. Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., you can drop off unwanted medication at the College of Eastern Idaho in Idaho Falls or Broulim’s at 301 Aspen Square Street in St. Anthony.
Extra patrols look for distracted drivers
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Idaho State Police is joining the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and dozens of other Idaho law enforcement agencies in a statewide effort to remind Idahoans of the dangers of distracted driving.
Through April 30, extra patrols will be on the road in an effort to educate motorists and enforce Idaho s distracted driving laws, particularly Idaho s law that prohibits driving while using a cell phone. Any activity that takes your attention away from the road is defined as distracted driving, and it only takes a moment or two for a distraction to cause a serious injury crash, said Lt. Chris Weadick of the Idaho State Police. Whatever the temptation, the distraction just isn t worth taking your eyes or your mind away from driving.
