Justice Grace Mumbi Ngugi, a judge of the high court, currently serving in the Anti-corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the High Court is set to receive the coveted Global Jurist of the Year Award on February 16.
Through a webinar organized by the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law’s Center for International Human Rights (CIHR), Justice Mumbi will also be interviewed by the Honorable Ann Williams, retired U.S. Circuit Judge, about the her (Mumbi’s) life-long commitment to human rights, marginalized populations, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Justice Mumbi Ngugi to receive Global Jurist of the Year Award
Northwestern Pritzker School of Law’s Center for International Human Rights (CIHR) will award its sixth Global Jurist of the Year Award to Justice Mumbi Ngugi, Judge of the High Court of Kenya, who serves in the Anti-corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the High Court.
Justice Ngugi will receive the award during a webinar at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 16. Register here. She will be interviewed by her friend the Honorable Ann Williams, retired U.S. Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, about the justice’s life-long commitment to human rights, marginalized populations, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff s Office arrested a man after he defrauded a 96-year-old victim out of tens of thousands of dollars in recent months.
Chad Johnson, 45, became the victim s caretaker earlier this year. From September to November, Johnson cashed checks he wrote for himself using the victim s account. He also made numerous purchases using the victim s credit cards. The victim did not authorize any of the charges made to their accounts. Johnson was also not given permission to access the victim s banking records.
Through investigative means, detectives learned Johnson defrauded the victim of more than $46,000. Detectives arrested him this week on charges of Exploitation of an Elderly Person and Grand Theft Second Degree.

A caretaker in Hillsborough County was arrested after deputies say he defrauded a 96-year-old out of $46,000.
Chad Johnson, 45, reportedly became the victim s caretaker earlier in 2020. From September to November, he is accused of cashing checks he wrote for himself using the victim s account. He also reportedly made numerous purchases using the victim s credit cards.
The person did not authorize any of the charges made to the accounts, nor was Johnson given permission to access their banking records.
Detectives learned over those months, Johsnon defrauded the victim out of more than $46,000.

TAMPA, Fla. - Hillsborough County deputies say the caretaker of a 96-year-old stole tens of thousands of dollars from the victim.
Investigators arrested 45-year-old Chad Johnson on Thursday, saying he cashed checks he wrote for himself using the victim s account between September and November.
They said Johnson also made numerous purchases using the victim s credit cards, adding that the victim didn t authorize any of those transactions.
During the investigation, detectives said they learned Johnson defrauded the victim of more than $46,000. He was arrested on charges of exploiting an elderly person and grand theft.
