Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Tuesday said Hudaibiya Paper Mills case was a story of fraud of about Rs 1,242 million, in terms of volume bigger than the Panama Papers case.
In a tweet, Fawad said the case started in the year 2000 when National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed the reference. He said Nawaz Sharif’s two sons Hassan and Hussain Nawaz, Shahbaz Sharif and his political heir Hamza Shehbaz were its main characters. He revealed that Ishaq Dar opened fake Benami foreign currency accounts to support the Sharif family in this fraud. When he was caught, Dar became an approver and also recorded his detailed statement to the authorities concerned, he said, adding that later Dar deviated from his statement by saying that the statement was taken under coercion.

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday said the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case was a story of “fraud” of about Rs1.2 billion, which he claimed was “bigger than the Panama Papers case”.
Chaudhry, in a series of tweets, shed light on the case a day after he announced the government had ordered the investigation into the case be reopened.
The minister tweeted that the case began in the year 2000 when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed the reference. Fawad alleged former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hasan and Hussain, Shahbaz Sharif and his political heir Hamza Shahbaz “were also its main characters”.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said a decision to reinvestigate the Hudaibyia Paper Mills case was made in the light of emergence of new evidence.
He said the judge who had decided to close the case in 2014, also owned assets abroad, according to the Panama disclosures.
The minister said Hudaibyia was a story of fraud of about Rs1,242 million, which was bigger than the Panama papers case in terms of volume, and it started in 2000.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday sought a report from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on the offshore properties of Sarina Isa, the spouse of Justice Qazi Faez Isa, after she pointed out several loopholes in the board’s investigation.
A 10-member SC bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial was hearing the review petitions on the court’s decision to dismiss the presidential reference against Justice Isa.
Justice Faez Isa, while arguing before the bench, said he never sought an adjournment to delay the proceedings, adding that the sword had been hanging over him for the last two years.
