Sarnia Lambton Economic Partnership honoured

Exeter, ON, Canada / 90.5 Exeter Today Mar 10, 2021 6:04 AM The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) has been recognized by a panel of judges at the 64th Annual Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) conference for producing outstanding promotional materials to attract investment. SLEP CEO Stephen Thompson congratulated all SLEP employees who contributed to the content of the promotional material, as well as local firms KKP Sarnia and CR Creative Co. for their roles with layout and cover production. He adds that these quality marketing materials immediately helped support discussions with 15 leads that short-listed the Sarnia-Lambton area, two of which signed letters of intent for investment, and two more that announced investment in 2020.

Barrie wins award for Dunlop Streetscape Project

  BARRIE, ONT. The City of Barrie is celebrating after winning a provincial award for work on the Dunlop Streetscape Project. The Economic Developers Council of Ontario recognizes excellence in economic development initiatives taken by cities and towns in the province. The project undertaken in Barrie focused on making the street safer and friendlier to pedestrians as well as increasing the accessibility for all. New street and traffic lights were installed, extra visibility and patio space for downtown businesses as well. Overall, the aesthetic of the downtown core was elevated significantly. EDCO credits the city with a tremendous makeover of the downtown main street. The project won because it will have a positive impact on the community,  will maintain a focus on green initiatives and for the city s collaboration with the BIA.

Quinte-based immigration documentary earns Ontario award

The Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board won an Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) Award of Excellence in the Workforce Development & Resident Attraction category for its documentary, A Place to Call Home. The film, which also won the Best Local Film award at Belleville Downtown DocFest in 2020, tells the story of new Canadians who have made the Bay of Quinte region their home.
